Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, marked the anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid with a series of social media posts highlighting her advocacy for these programs and support for local businesses.
On July 30, 2025, DelBene posted: “Medicare & Medicaid weren’t just policy. They were a promise. For 60 years, Democrats have kept it. Now Republicans are breaking it.”
Later that day, she visited Postdoc Brewing in Redmond to meet with business owners about economic challenges. In her post on July 30, 2025, she wrote: “Great to join brewery owners at Postdoc Brewing in Redmond to talk about the challenges they face with rising costs & tariffs, & how Congress can better support local businesses, jobs, & communities.”
On July 31, 2025, DelBene continued her focus on health care issues by joining providers and advocates at Redmond Care & Rehab and Redmond Heights Senior Living. She stated: “Joined providers & advocates at Redmond Care & Rehab & Redmond Heights Senior Living for a Medicare & Medicaid Day of Action. For 60 years, these programs have helped millions live longer, healthier lives. We must keep fighting to protect them.”
Suzan DelBene has served in Congress since 2012 after replacing Jay Inslee as representative for Washington’s 1st district. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently residing in Medina, DelBene holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
