Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, recently addressed several key policy issues on her social media account.

On August 11, 2025, DelBene marked the anniversary of a significant veterans’ health care law, stating, “Today marks 3 years since the PACT Act was signed into law. This historic law expands VA health care & benefits to veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, & other toxic substances. Learn more about how to take advantage of these benefits below.”

Later that day, she highlighted concerns over proposed changes to federal food assistance programs: “800,000 Washingtonians rely on federal food assistance to make ends meet & feed their families. Trump’s megabill cuts $186 billion from SNAP, reducing benefits for everyone on the program & kicking many off it entirely. This law is cruel & will force many in our state to go” (August 11, 2025).

On August 12, DelBene commented on economic policy and trade tariffs: “What do businesses, families, & now even former Republican Speaker Paul Ryan have in common? They all agree that Trump’s tariffs are bad for the economy & will raise prices on Americans.”

DelBene has served as a congressional representative since replacing Jay Inslee in 2012 and currently resides in Medina. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
