Rep. Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, recently posted several updates on her social media accounts addressing local immigration matters, community engagement, and federal tax policy.

On July 29, 2025, DelBene announced developments regarding an immigration case in her district: “UPDATE: Fernando Rocha, the theater manager at Juanita High School, who was detained by ICE has been granted bond & is set to be released from detention. He applied for asylum & holds a valid work permit. I remain committed to ensuring due process, protecting constitutional”.

The following day, DelBene highlighted her participation in a community event with local leaders: “Great to join the Bellevue Rotary Club to share an update on my work in Congress. Grateful for the opportunity to connect & discuss how we can keep delivering results for our region.” (July 30, 2025).

Later that same day, she commented on proposed changes to federal tax filing procedures under former President Trump’s administration: “President Trump isn’t just raising prices on health care and everyday products hardworking families buy. Now, he wants you to pay to file taxes. Democrats created the IRS direct file program, but Trump is ending it.” (July 30, 2025).

Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She graduated from Reed College in 1983 and later earned another degree from the University of Washington in 1990. She succeeded Jay Inslee as representative of Washington’s 1st District and has maintained her seat since then.
