U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in Congress since 2012, recently used her Twitter account to share updates on local engagement and national politics.

On May 9, DelBene posted about her meeting with interns from her district office, writing: “Great to sit down with our spring district office interns. Thank you to Riley & Madison for your hard work this semester. Interns in our office play a key role in community outreach & casework. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future!”

A day later, on May 10, she recognized Mother’s Day for constituents in her district, stating: “Wishing all moms in WA-01 a Happy Mother’s Day!!”

On May 11, DelBene commented on former President Donald Trump and federal spending by tweeting: “Make no mistake, Trump wants you to foot a $1 billion bill for his luxury ballroom.”

Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She succeeded Jay Inslee as representative of Washington’s 1st congressional district after his departure from Congress in 2012. DelBene earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Reed College in 1983 and later graduated from the University of Washington in 1990.
