Rep. Suzan DelBene, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district, has been vocal on several issues through her recent tweets. Her social media posts reflect her concerns and initiatives in areas such as data privacy, public transportation funding, and personal tributes.
On May 21, 2025, Rep. DelBene criticized former President Trump’s decision to eliminate new rules intended to protect personal data from being sold by data brokers. She stated, “Trump killed new rules that would’ve protected your personal data, like financial info, credit history, & Social Security numbers, from being sold by data brokers.” She emphasized the need for a strong national data privacy law.
Later that day, DelBene highlighted her meeting with local officials about public transportation funding. She expressed her views on Twitter saying “Great to sit down with @kcexec & @kingcountymetro to discuss the importance of funding King County Metro & what reliable transportation means for our community.” The discussion is particularly relevant as King County prepares to host World Cup matches in 2026.
In another tweet on the same day, Rep. DelBene shared her condolences over the death of fellow legislator Rep. Gerry Connolly. She tweeted “Heartbroken by the passing of my friend, Rep. Gerry Connolly.” She described him as an “upstanding legislator” and a “tireless advocate for northern Virginia,” extending her sympathies to his family.
Suzan DelBene has served in Congress since replacing Jay Inslee in 2012 and resides in Medina. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962, she holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
