The City of North Bend wishes to express its gratitude for the community effort during the City’s two-day Beautification Days event, held in honor of Earth Day.

On Friday, April 22nd, and Saturday, April 23rd, residents, the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital, the North Bend Downtown Foundation, Girl Scouts, Empower Youth Network and Republic Services representatives met up with City Councilmembers, the Mayor and City staff to pick up litter throughout town. It was also on Friday that Mayor McFarland proclaimed April 22nd Earth Day. He read the proclamation aloud at the event, surrounded by community organizations, City Council members and staff. Read the proclamation HERE.

Helpers hit the streets, sidewalks, railroad tracks, ditches and embankments to collect garbage and recyclables in North Bend. Areas like McClellan Avenue, Southfork Avenue, North Bend Way, Cedar Falls Way and the historic downtown core were the primary focus of city volunteers. As a result, approximately half of a five-yard dumpster were filled with recyclables and debris collected during the two-day event.

Residents joined in by cleaning up their own neighborhoods and/or favorite recreation spots.

Mayor McFarland commented, “Celebrating Earth Day through positive community impact and collaboration is what makes this movement special. North Bend’s Beautification Days is a prime example of what we can do not only once a year – but every day – to help protect our environment.”
