Seattle University baseball defeated San Diego, 7-4, in their series opener Friday night, with Tyler Horner hitting two home runs on Apr. 17.
The victory marks the fifth consecutive win for the Redhawks and improves their season record to 13-19. The team now stands at 8-5 in conference play, continuing a recent streak of strong performances.
Horner gave Seattle U an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning and added a solo shot in the fourth. Additional runs were scored by Royce Hale, Jake Beauchaine, Kenneth Rhein, and Payton Knowles. On the pitching side, Travis Farrell earned his second win of the year after six innings pitched and allowing three earned runs. Ryan Stone contributed three scoreless innings from the bullpen to secure his second save of the season.
The Redhawks will aim for their fourth conference series win as they face San Diego again tomorrow with Kale Hammer scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
