As work progresses on the SE 136th Street and 436th Avenue roundabout (RAB), contractors are sharing their upcoming construction dates, with the hopes that citizens find the information helpful. Below are approximate schedule plans for roundabout construction phases, from late February through completion, in May.

The City reminds citizens that all projects are dependent on weather and may change as needs arise.

  • Monday, February 27: Grading West Island
  • Monday, March 6: Concrete work on West Island
  • Monday, March 20: Grading of curb and gutter Southeast and West Island; irrigation work
  • Friday, March 24: Concrete work on Southeast and West Island
  • Monday, March 27: Soil work
  • Monday, April 3: Landscaping
  • Friday, April 7: Grading sidewalk on Southeast and West Island
  • Friday, April 14: Concrete work on sidewalk of Southeast and West Island
  • Friday, April 28: Pavement grinding
  • Monday, April 24: Road striping
  • Thursday, April 27: Signage installation
  • Monday, May 1: Inspections
  • Friday, May 5: Pavement work is expected to finish up

Motorists should expect lane closures with short delays through construction. Traffic control devices and flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic as needed.

The purpose of the RAB is to mitigate potential future traffic impacts in connection with the River Run Apartment project, located northeast of the new RAB. River Run will consist of 128 units in 11 buildings, with one additional building containing a clubhouse/office space. Approximately 28 of the new apartments will be designated as affordable housing for households earning 80% or less of the King County Area Median Income (AMI).

The City apologizes for any inconveniences caused by this project and thanks residents for their patience and understanding. For construction-related questions, please contact Brian Tucker, Development Project Manager, at btucker@northbendwa.gov. All other inquiries should be directed to Senior Planner, Jamie Burrell, at jburrell@northbendwa.gov.
