The Washington State Department of Transportation will be conducting a major closure of I-90 on Mercer Island this September, in order for crews to replace a critical expansion
joint.
These closures include:
- 10:00am Friday, September 16 to 5:00am Monday, September 19: the West Mercer Way on-ramp, the right lane of I-90, and the bike path will be closed.
- 2:00pm Thursday, September 22 to 10:00am Friday, September 23: westbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane west of 76th Ave SE.
- 10:00am Friday, September 23 to 5:00am Monday, September 26: all lanes of westbound I-90 beginning just before the floating bridge (Homer Hadley Bridge) will be closed. One lane of the West Mercer Way on-ramp will be open for vehicles to exit.
During the closure on Mercer Island, drivers will need to use either I-405 to go around the lake or the SR 520 floating bridge. Islanders will be able to leave and access Mercer
Island using the open lanes.
