In mid September, Snoqualmie drivers should be prepared for potential traffic delays on westbound I-90 as the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) starts a
road improvement project to repair a stretch of rough freeway located east of Issaquah between Highlands Drive NE and just west of SE High Point Way. See map below.
These roadway repairs will reduce westbound I-90 to one lane in the project area from Sunday, September 11, at 9pm to Thursday, September 15, at 5am and again from Sunday,
September 18, at 9pm to Friday, September 23, at 5am.
The week of September 11, crews will add drainage and replace concrete panels – about 1,500 feet with asphalt and other panels with concrete – to smooth a 1-mile section of rough
freeway about a mile west of SE High Point Way.
The week of September 18, crews will complete drainage work and replace broken concrete panels on the right side of westbound I-90.
These multi-day lane closures are required to effectively repair this area due to the work involved. I-90 is three lanes wide at this location, as well as at the bridges, so WSDOT needs
to close two lanes to provide a safe area for crews repairing the freeway.
According to WSDOT, in addition to these lane reductions, upcoming work will also require:
Two weeks to replace concrete just before the I-90 bridge west of High Point Way.
Two weeks to repave the bridge about a mile east of the SE 82nd Street on-ramp near Preston.
Individual concrete panels will be replaced during overnight lane reductions.
