City of Sammamish issued the following announcement.
King County Elections projects a significant amount of ballots will be deposited in the 72 ballot drop boxes across the County. They have contracted with a third-party security firm to develop specific traffic coordination plans for high volume drop off locations.
Sammamish's drop box location has been identified as one of these locations. Extra resources around the drop box, including flaggers, signage and lights will be in place from approximately 12:30 on Election Day and will break down after the 8:00pm deadline.
Please see the map for the traffic plans.
Here is the full memo from King County Elections received by the City of Sammamish on October 6th:
As we prepare for the November 2020 General Election, we are taking every measure to ensure all voters have a chance to return their ballots in a safe and practical manner. We are projecting approximately 1,287,000 ballots received for the 2020 general election, 55% of which will be returned at a ballot drop box. On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd alone, we are expecting over 400,000 ballots to be deposited in our 72 ballot drop boxes across the county.
Because of this, we have contracted with a third-party traffic security firm to come up with specific traffic coordination plans for high volume drop box locations, to ensure constant flow of traffic and minimal delays.
We have identified your drop box location as one that would benefit from a more detailed traffic approach which is attached. This means that we will have extra resources at or around your drop box, including flaggers, signage and lights. They will arrive at approximately 12:30 on Election Day and will break down after the 8:00 pm deadline.
