On July 5, 2023, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) presented the City of Bothell with a $741,000 check for a backup generator at its Emergency Coordination Center. DelBene secured the investment in the FY23 federal funding package.
Bothell's Emergency Coordination Center plays a crucial role in protecting local infrastructure and supporting the community during emergencies. The funding will enable the city to install a new backup power generator, enhancing emergency response capabilities. This will enable emergency personnel to communicate, coordinate, and take life-saving measures during disasters and power outages.
“We have a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities, especially during times of crisis,” said DelBene. “This investment will allow the emergency personnel to respond quickly and effectively during emergencies even when the power is out and help ensure the city is prepared to take on any unforeseen challenges that may come our way.”
“We were so happy to host Congresswoman DelBene in our Operations Center. It is so exciting to have federal partners who truly want to learn more about our local needs and how they can best serve our community,” said Bothell Mayor Mason Thompson. “The funds she secured for Bothell’s backup generator are a significant investment in emergency preparedness and give our community peace of mind. It was wonderful to celebrate this achievement and discuss even more future opportunities.”
DelBene secured $19.4 million for 15 community projects across Washington’s 1st Congressional District in the FY23 federal funding package. Projects came directly from non-profit, city, county, Tribal, and state entities, and all funding secured was done in collaboration with project sponsors.
