The Meydenbauer Bay and Newcastle Beach parks swimming areas are closed due to high bacteria concentrations in the water. Meydenbauer Bay Park was closed on June 23;
Newcastle was closed on July 11, based on King County test results. Swimming and wading in the water is still inadvisable
The closure comes at the direction of Public Health – Seattle & King County, which routinely tests water quality at freshwater swimming beaches throughout the area. The
swimming area will be reopened when testing indicates that bacteria levels are low-risk.
Although those beaches are closed to swimming, the parks are open. Signs at the parks alert visitors to the closure of the swimming areas.
Swimming is still open at Bellevue’s Chism and Clyde beach parks, with lifeguards at them noon-7 p.m., seven days a week.
