City Partners for Energy Smart Eastside Heating and Cooling Campaign

City Partners for Energy Smart Eastside Heating and Cooling Campaign

July  19, 2022 – Starting this summer, Eastside residents in the cities of  Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, and Redmond have the  opportunity to learn about and

purchase discounted heat pump systems  through Energy Smart Eastside, a multi-city energy efficiency program.  Heat pumps are highly efficient heating and cooling systems that

use  less energy than traditional electric heating systems and can result in  lower utility bills.

The Energy Smart Eastside heat pump campaign reduces the regular price of a heat pump, simplifies  the installation process for customers, and provides guidance on  utility

incentives and low-interest financing. By working directly with  heat pump manufacturers, local distributors, and expert installers to  streamline the process, Energy Smart Eastside

ensures participants  receive high-quality work and excellent customer service.

Five free, one-hour online workshops are scheduled from July 26 to  Sept 27, 2022. The workshops are open to all Eastside residents and  property owners. Participants will learn

about heat pump technology,  utility incentives, and financing opportunities through the program, and  will have an opportunity to ask questions of program experts. After  attending

a workshop, participants are eligible to receive a community  discount to reduce the installation cost by at least $500, in addition  to unique incentives offered by individual

jurisdictions. Puget Sound  Energy customers may also qualify for additional cash incentives, if  upgrading from another electric heat source.

“This campaign is a great opportunity to improve home energy  efficiency that will also benefit our community’s climate goals,” Ross  Freeman, City of Mercer Island Sustainability

Manager, said.
