Graduates of the City of North Bend’s inaugural Citizens Academy were honored at the March 21st City Council meeting.

Beginning February 6th, the seven-week interactive course guided 15 participants through various aspects of city operations, including administration and city history, legal, public records and information, finance, fire, police, public works and infrastructure, and community and economic development.

“Our goal for the Citizens Academy is to provide a new avenue for civic engagement, and ultimately, to grow participation in the public process here North Bend,” said Mayor McFarland.

This free program is open to citizens who are 16 years and older. Class size is limited to the first 15 applicants. The Citizens Academy will return in 2024, and like this year, classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please visit the Citizens Academy webpage, which will be updated when information on the next series becomes available.
