On April 16, 2025, Rep. DelBene addressed concerns regarding the lack of federal support for communities affected by the November storms. She stated, "Our communities need support to recover from the November storms. The president is denying these funds, & I will continue to push for the resources to help those who need to rebuild." DelBene expressed her determination to continue advocating for the necessary resources to aid in the recovery efforts.
On April 17, 2025, she detailed an event involving healthcare stakeholders, highlighting the potential impact of proposed Medicaid cuts. She mentioned, "Hosted patients & providers from our community today who would be impacted by Republican’s Medicaid cuts. I will continue to stand up for Medicaid access & against these cruel cuts." DelBene reaffirmed her commitment to opposing these initiatives that threaten healthcare access.
The following day, April 18, 2025, Rep. DelBene visited Evergreen Health Monroe to interact with individuals affected by the proposed Medicaid changes, highlighting personal stories to underline broader societal impacts. She tweeted, "At Evergreen Health Monroe today to hear from folks like Mae, a long-term care provider & parent of a child who relies on Medicaid. Republicans cuts to Medicaid would not only affect patients & providers but everyone in our community through less health access & higher bills." DelBene emphasized the community-wide consequences of reduced healthcare access and increased costs.
Suzan DelBene has served in the U.S. Congress since 2012, after replacing former member Jay Inslee. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962, she is a long-standing resident of Medina and alumnus of Reed College and the University of Washington.
